Area Sports & Attractions The VAST Trail In the winter step outside and ride The VAST Trail Network for snowmobiling that extends throughout most of Vermont and into Quebec.﷯ Snowmobiling is a longstanding winter sport in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. The VAST Trail originated in Essex and Caledonia County, VT years ago. Now, The VAST Trail, now with more than 5000 miles of connecting trails in Vermont, extends to New Hampshire, New York, Maine, Connecticut and Quebec. Trails are groomed twice a week and maintained by their corresponding Snowmobile Club. The trails of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom extend past snow covered mountain ranges, to township to township. Miles of wilderness and wildlife, here, in the Kingdom, add to the experience. Snowmobilers sometimes find an occassional moose or deer while travelling the areas terrain. The Jay Peak Resort ﷯The year round resort is home to Jay Peak, a renowned ski mountain that boasts more than 70 trails and the "Most Snow in New England" and "the Most Liberal Out of Bounds Skiing Anywhere". The four season resort also caters to its visitors with its PGA Golf Course, Pump Haus Water Park, Ice Haus, fine restaurants and live entertainment schedule. ﷯ The Pump Haus Water Park A one of a kind indoor year round water park, the Pump Haus Water Park has its own climbing wall, surf arena and downhill water chute. Lake Memphremagog in Newport, VT The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is home to many lakes, though Lake Memphremagog is one of Vermont's two international lakes. While 73% of Lake Memphremagog's surface area is in Quebec, 3/4's of its watershed is in Vermont. ﷯ Boaters are cautioned to be careful not to cross the International Boarder into Quebec. However, the lake allows for a tremendous excursion into another country. Be sure to review the Customs requirements before crossing the border. ﷯ Lake Memphremagog is ideal for swimming, boating and fishing. Its pristine conditions and the area's wilderness offer refreshing water sporting conditions. ﷯
